Frequently Asked Questions

Are your services private and confidential?

Yes. We wholeheartedly understand the concern of wanting your matters to remain private and confidential. It can feel risky to reach out to someone within the same community because of the fear that your privacy will not be respected. The opposite is true with psychotherapy services. Everything that is shared in your sessions remains private and confidential. If ever you were to bump into your therapist outside of therapy, your therapist would be sure to keep your confidentiality.

What about limits to confidentiality?

There are limits to confidentiality. According to the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), and in law, there are a limited number of circumstances where disclosure is required without client consent:

1. If you tell your therapist you know of a child or an elderly person who is, has been or is at risk of being abused or neglected. 2. If you tell your therapist you are or are going to harm yourself or someone else. 3. If you tell your therapist that you have been abused by a regulated health professional. 4. Or if your therapist is served with a court order or subpoena to disclose aspects of your care.

Under any of these conditions, we will do my best to notify you that the limits of confidentiality are being crossed so we can ideally discuss next steps and create a plan together.

How do I know if we’re a good fit?

We provide a free virtual 15-minute consultation to help you determine if your therapist would be a good fit for you and your needs. Please e-mail us at info@rishadave.ca for further questions.

What can I expect during our 15-minute consultation?

Your free consultation is an opportunity for you to share a little bit about yourself and what brings you to therapy. During this time, you will be invited to think about your goals and expectations from therapy. Then, your therapist will share more information about their therapeutic approach and style. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have for your therapist.

How many sessions do I need to attend before I start to feel better?

The short answer to this is that it depends. Everyone is different. Research suggests that folks benefit from weekly or bi-weekly sessions at the beginning of the process. Consistency tends to produce better therapeutic outcomes.

What is the fee for service?

This depends on what services you are looking to receive, and with whom. The investment varies between $165 and $190 per 50-minute session for individual therapy. Couples and family therapy are $210. Group therapy rates will depend on the offering at the time.

Payment is due prior to each scheduled session. Payments are accepted via e-transfer or credit card.

Insurance/benefits: Please contact your insurance provider to verify whether psychotherapy is covered through your plan. You will receive a receipt to submit for reimbursement from your insurance provider.

Do you offer a sliding scale rate?

Most of our team members have limited spots available for sliding scale rates. Please reach out and ask your practitioners to confirm that they have sliding scale availability at this time.

Will my insurance plan cover my sessions?

It is your responsibility to ensure that psychotherapy services are covered by your insurance provider. Review your insurance policy and contact your insurance provider to determine how much coverage you have, what professional designation is covered, and what portion of the fee (if any) you may be responsible for.

we do not offer direct billing at this time.

Missed appointments and cancellations.

Your appointment time is reserved just for you. A late cancellation or missed visit leaves a hole in the therapist’s day that could have been filled by another client. As such, I require 24 hours notice for any cancellations or changes to your appointment. Clients who provide less than 24 hours notice, or miss their appointment, will be charged the full session fee.

Do you offer in-person services?

No, our clinic currently does not offer in-person services. Our services are 100% virtual.
